The three African students of Lovely Professional University (LPU) who are accused of killing a 22-year-old student of engineering from Mizoram were placed in a days police remand by the court of Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate Arun Kumar Aggarwal on Thursday.
One Tanzanian and eight other Sudanese students of LPU were also arrested under section 107/151 of CrPC as they were playing football as part of a Sudanese team against the Mizo team.
The three main accused Hashim Idriss, Ahmad Aigaly (both Sudanese) and Saeed Feisal (Tanzanian) who were booked under sections 302 and 34 of IPC were produced in court on Thursday. Police sought their remand to recover their football cleats that the accused were wearing when the violently kicked the deceased Johny Lalhmangaih Zuala during the football match at LPU on Tuesday evening. Zuala succumbed to his injuries around midnight. His body was airlifted to Mizoram after the postmortem.
